Long before our doors opened as Callander IDA Pharmacy, this building at 93 Main Street North was a cornerstone of the village. Originally the home of David and Henrietta Darling, it later became Callander's post office under postmaster George Bailey — the longest-serving postmaster in the village's history, from April 1903 to January 1937. His daughter Jeannie Tate carried on the role, keeping the post office in the family home until 1959.
These walls saw the Dionne Quintuplets era too. After the famous birth of the Quints in 1934, tourists flooded Callander wanting postcards stamped here — by late 1936, Bailey said he'd handled more mail in the previous 30 months than the 30 years before.
From a family home to the village post office, to Mac's Sport Shop, and now your trusted IDA pharmacy — this corner has always been a place where neighbours met.
